Site refresh: live streaming and BallCam Agent removed (for now)

An orange rocket car and football suspended in an aerial play, with a cyan trajectory arc.

Following Psyonix's introduction of Easy Anti-Cheat in Rocket League, we're removing the live streaming feature and the BallCam Agent from the site. BallCam stays fully functional as a 3D replay viewer.

TL;DR

Psyonix recently introduced Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) in Rocket League. The BallCam Agent relied on memory-reading techniques to power the live streaming feature, which is no longer compatible with the game.

To keep everyone safe, all live streaming features and the Agent download have been removed from the site.

What still works

BallCam remains a fully functional 3D Rocket League replay viewer:

  • Upload your .replay files manually from the Upload page
  • Or push them programmatically through the API (Personal Access Tokens, see /settings/tokens)
  • Watch them in 3D, share them, comment, create clips, browse cheaters detection, all of it stays
  • Collaborative viewing sessions still work for shared replay analysis

No data was lost. Every existing replay, clip, account and comment is intact.

What's gone (for now)

  • The Live section and /lives page
  • The Live Viewer (/live/...)
  • The BallCam Agent download page and all related links
  • Auto-uploads from the agent

The backend live endpoints are still up under the hood, just not exposed in the UI, so any direct API integration you might have built still works.

Behind the scenes: never miss a Rocket League update again

A few weeks ago, a Rocket League update introduced new replay attributes that our parser (rrrocket) couldn't decode, leaving dozens of uploads stuck in error state until the issue was spotted manually.

To make sure that never happens again, we built an automated parser update mechanism:

  • A daily watcher checks for new rrrocket releases
  • When a new version drops, the maintainer is notified within 24h
  • A new pipeline can flip the parser version and redeploy in minutes
  • Replays that previously failed are automatically reprocessed once the new parser is live

In short: the next time Psyonix ships an update that breaks parsing, the fix should land within hours instead of weeks.

What's coming

  • This brand new News section (you're reading the first post ๐Ÿ˜‰) for project updates
  • A new EAC-compliant agent is on the roadmap, but no ETA yet, it's a non-trivial rewrite
  • Until then, BallCam stays focused on what it does best: replay viewing and analysis
